101 uses for gaffers tape

We took the kids shopping today, and Kristin picked out her Halloween costume already. She's going to be Belle from the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast". Of course, as soon as she got home, she had to try it on. Kayla felt left out so we let her put on Kristin's old Cinderella costume. I need to start thinking of a costume for Kayla but I draw a blank when it comes to this stuff.

Wake up, wake up!

Wake up, wake up!, originally uploaded by jwlphotography.

Well, today was the official 1st day of school for Kristin. I always felt bad, starting her so early in daycare/preschool, but I now feel it has prepared her for this big day. She did 'really' well, and I'm so proud of her.

So I've had this thing for a little over 2 weeks now, and I can say, this thing ROCKS!

Today was Kristin's last day of daycare/preschool, and she starts Kindergarten on Monday. I feel sorry for Kayla since I don't know who she is going to play with, and now there is no big sis to look after her. I feel the same about Kristin, and how she is going to handle a new school, with new classmates, and new environment. It's sad to realize that my little girls are growing up so fast.

PS I'd like to thank Vanessa for the awesome Sesame Street gear you sent. The kids absolutely love it, and are sporting the new outfits in the above picture. Thanks again.

Six Flags

We took the kids to Six Flags yesterday for Kayla's birthday. We really want to do something like this every year with each individual child after watching Jon and Kate Plus 8. If you haven't watched the show, you need to check it out. I don't know how they do it, but they have 8 kids, yes 8! Every kid gets special alone time with just the parents and I think it's such a great idea. Trying to juggle two conversations with the kids can be overwhelming sometimes, so it's nice to be able to concentrate on one child at a time. We originally planned on taking just Kayla, but we also had to think about Kristin's daycare and whether or not we could make it back on time to pick her up. We just decided to take both of them. This year, for Kristin's birthday, we definitely are going to plan some special time just for her.

Kayla started the adventure on some mild rides. She seemed ok at first:

but soon, the action was too much for her to take, so she put her hat over her eyes and spent the rest of the ride stuck to my body.

She really enjoyed riding on this merry go round, especially after watching Kung Fu Panda.

She enjoyed being chauffeured around by big sis:

but the BEST part of the day, was playing in the water area with big sis:

Even if it meant getting splashed in the face:

more than a few times.....

nothing makes kids happier than playing in water. nothing.

After a long day of playing, she couldn't take it anymore, and she pooped out.

Little Miss Birthday

Little Miss Birthday, originally uploaded by jwlphotography.

Today is Kayla's official 2 year old birthday. I know I always say it, but I really can't believe how fast time goes by. I still remember the day she was born, the non-stop crying every 5 or 10 minutes. The crazy rocking techniques we would use to try and get her to sleep. All those nights holding her in our arms, trying to calm her down, only to fall asleep ourselves due to exhaustion. It was a rocky first few months which seemed like eternity when it comes to lack of sleep, but you know what? It was worth every second.

Happy Birthday Little K.

wash your mouth out with soap

Kayla really is entering her terrible 2 stage now. We get these status reports from her school on a daily basis, and recently there have been comments indicative of her acting out for some reason. Yesterday, we found out that she hit her teacher, and had to spend some quality time in the corner. At home she throws these tantrums and kicks and stomps her feet when she doesn’t get her way. Also she is scratching and pinching big sis. Hope she grows out of it soon.
